HOW TO GET TO OSLO

Oslo’s location in the heart of Scandinavia makes the city easily accessible to travelers from across Europe and beyond. More than 40 airlines operate flights to over 130 destinations worldwide from Oslo Airport Gardermoen, one of the busiest and most modern airports in Northern Europe.

Oslo has one main international railway station, Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), which connects the city to major destinations across Norway and to neighboring countries. The station is also linked to the Oslo Metro, trams, and an extensive bus network, ensuring smooth transfers throughout the city and beyond. Modern motorways connect Oslo to other key Norwegian cities and to Sweden, making travel by road convenient and efficient.

From the airport, you can reach the city center using various transportation options:

Trains: Regular train services connect Oslo Airport to Oslo Central Station in about 20-25 minutes, with departures every 10–20 minutes. Tickets cost around 230 NOK (€20).

Airport Express BusThis service links the airport to Oslo city center in about 40-50 minutes, costing around 160–220 NOK (€14-19).

Public Buses: Public buses connect the airport to nearby metro and train stations, costing approximately 120–160 NOK (€10–14) and taking about 50 minutes.

Taxi: A 40-50 minute ride to central Oslo costs around 700–1000 NOK (€60-€90). 

By Car

Oslo is accessible via major roads and motorways, and entering Oslo’s central area involves passing through automated toll rings.

Parking is available throughout the city, with many hotels offering parking facilities. Public garages and on-street parking are common in the city center, with rates typically ranging from 29-44 NOK (€2.50-€3.80) per hour, depending on location.

Oslo is well-connected by bus to cities across Norway and Europe. The main bus terminal in the city is Oslo Bus Terminal (Oslo Bussterminal), which handles both domestic and international buses, making it a convenient option for budget travel.

The bus terminal is located near Jernbanetorget, adjacent to Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), and is served by multiple metro and tram lines, allowing quick access to the rest of the city.

By Train

Oslo is a major rail hub, with international and domestic trains regularly arriving at Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), located in the city center. This station connects to Norwegian cities like Bergen, Trondheim, and Stavanger, as well as to neighboring countries such as Sweden through regional and high-speed train services.

The train station is directly connected to multiple metro and tram lines, and taxis and other public transportation are readily available for onward travel within Oslo.

including the metro (T-bane), trams, buses, and ferries. The Oslo Metro consists of five lines - 1 through 5 - that connect the city center with surrounding districts and nearby suburbs. Many of the city’s top attractions - including Karl Johans gate, the Royal Palace, Aker Brygge, and the Akershus Fortress - are within easy walking distance of each other.                                    

Ferry

Oslo’s scenic location on the Oslofjord makes ferry travel a delightful way to explore the city and its surroundings. Regular ferries depart from Aker Brygge, connecting the city center with nearby islands such as Hovedøya, Gressholmen, and Lindøya.
