Optimizing Consultancy: Common Challenges for the EMDR Consultant – Considerations for Best Practices

With Deany Laliotis
Duration: 3 hours

Program Overview:
Join us for an insightful and interactive session designed for EMDR Consultants supervising clinicians of all levels of experience. In this workshop, we will explore the challenges consultants face in guiding consultees through the dynamic balance of meeting accreditation standards while helping them successfully integrate EMDR therapy into their clinical practice.

As ambassadors of the EMDR model, it is our responsibility to support clinicians in developing the necessary skills for their EMDR certification and to promote their growth through continuous learning and reflection. This session will provide you with practical strategies to encourage clinicians to be both brave in their learning journey and confident in their clinical work. Through a rigorous examination of real clinical cases, you will gain clarity on how to support consultees in their skill development while navigating common challenges in supervision.

Program Objectives:
Through a combination of lecture, small group discussions, and videotaped consultation sessions, participants will learn how to:

    1. Apply Core Elements of the EMDR Model: Assist clinicians in AIP case conceptualization and treatment planning, ensuring they adhere to the core principles of EMDR therapy.
    2. Encourage Open Learning: Implement strategies to help clinicians be less focused on performing and more open to growth and learning.
    3. Normalize Mistakes: Develop techniques to normalize common mistakes as learning opportunities, fostering a growth mindset in consultees.
    4. Balance External and Internal Goals: Identify the relationship between meeting certification requirements and developing proficiency as an EMDR therapist, focusing on both external standards and internal development.

Why attend?

This workshop will leave you with greater clarity on how to support your consultees as they build their confidence and clinical competence. You will gain a deeper understanding of how to guide them through the challenges of supervision while creating an environment that encourages continuous learning.

Best,
